A clear RFQ saves time
Many welding equipment RFQs are too short to answer well. A message that says “send price for MIG welder” forces the factory to guess. A better RFQ gives enough context to recommend the right model, documents, and quotation path.
The goal is not to write a long technical report. The goal is to remove the most expensive uncertainty.
Include the process
Start with the process or the problem:
- Pulsed MIG/MAG
- Low-spatter MIG/MAG
- TIG AC/DC
- Robot welding
- General MIG/MAG
If you are not sure, say what material and result you need. The process selector can help narrow the direction.
Include material and thickness
Material and thickness are often more useful than a model name. Aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, thin sheet, medium plate, and repair material each lead to different questions.
If the range is broad, give the daily range and the maximum range.
Include market and power requirements
Input power, plug expectations, certification needs, language, spare parts, and accessories can vary by market. A distributor inquiry should also include country or region.
This helps the factory prepare information that fits the destination, not just the machine.
Include quantity and buyer role
A distributor evaluating a product line needs a different response from an end user buying one machine. State whether you are a dealer, importer, workshop, factory, or project buyer.
Quantity does not need to be final, but an estimated range helps.
Include documents and proof needed
Tell the factory what you need next:
- Catalog
- Spec sheet
- Manual
- Weld test video, when available
- Comparison table
- Spare parts information
- Distributor discussion
If you already watched a proof video, mention it. That gives the technical conversation a shared reference, even if the factory still needs to confirm the exact model, setup, and parameters.
Use this simple structure:
- Country or region.
- Buyer role.
- Process or application.
- Material and thickness.
- Target product or “not sure yet”.
- Input power and accessory needs.
- Quantity range.
- Documents or proof videos requested.
With that information, the factory can respond with fewer guesses and a more useful next step.
